Figured it's been awhile since I wrote anything here. 2014 is shaping up to be a good year for me artistically. I survived my first convention and at least broke even. Meet a lot of nice folks and did a few commissioned pieces while I was there. My wife and I will be back at the Kawaii-Kon in 2015 so some of the work that gets posted here may be available there for purchase.
I'm continuing to push myself artistically and really trying to put in a decent about of pencil time. The group of folks I draw with, Comic Jam Hawaii, continues to be a great motivating force creatively and in fellowship. If you're not part of a local art community, I highly encourage it. If there is an art group where you are, start one. There are lots of "closeted" artists out there that would love to be able to sit and draw with a fellow creative person. My group jams in public and we constantly get people joining in that were just walking by and saw us all drawing.
In the lead up to the convention, by necessity, I was doing a lot of manga and anime type stuff. Lately I've returned to my comic book roots. Coming up I plan to dip back into fantasy and sci-fi a bit.
If you've actually read all this then drop me a comment to say hi and throw out some suggestions for things you'd like to see drawn. I won't promise I'll draw them, but you never know, I just might.
Cheers and Aloha!
